The learning doesn’t stop when you finish reading your issue of SN2! The Teacher’s Guide is a complete skill-building package for every issue, with easy-to-follow guidance on our multimedia resources and each issues' content to extend students’ learning. There is a hard copy of the Teacher’s Guide included with every monthly bundle, but you also can access the Teacher’s Guide online!

It’s up to you! The Teacher’s Guide is flexible. Use all the activities, or pick and choose based on what skills you want to teach. However you use it, the Teacher’s Guide helps to seamlessly integrate SN2 into your classroom and engage all learners.

Each issue of SN2 has a Lesson Plan, which offers a step-by-step guide for teaching the issue. Reading objectives, academic focus areas, ELA skills, vocabulary words, and Common Core Standards are also provided. In addition, the Lesson Plan points you to issues in the SN2 archive that you can use to extend the lesson. 

For every issue, our editor highlights her favorite extension activity in the Teacher’s Guide.

Yes! When you’re on the issue page, click “Activity” under Extend the Lesson in the middle of the page. You’ll find a colorful print-friendly pdf with step-by-step instructions for the activity. 

To find each month's Answer Key, click “Answer Key” under More Resources on the right side of a given month's issue page. This will bring you to a pdf with answers for page 4 activities and Skill Sheets.
