The Teacher’s Guide is a complete skill-building package for every issue, with easy-to-follow Lesson Plans to extend students’ learning. There is a hard copy of the Teacher’s Guide included with every monthly bundle, but you also can access the Teacher’s Guide online!

Click on the issue you are going to teach. Then click “Teacher’s Guide” from the list of Resources on the right side of the page. This will give you Lesson Plans for all of the month’s issues.

On the first page of the Teacher’s Guide, you’ll find a letter from our editor with important news and useful tips about your subscription.
Each issue has a Lesson Plan, which offers a step-by-step guide for teaching the issue. Reading objectives, academic focus areas, ELA skills, vocabulary words, Common Core Standards, Guided Reading level, and Lexile level are also provided. In addition, the Lesson Plan points you to issues in the SN2 archive that you can use to extend the lesson.

Yes! When you’re on the issue page, click “Activity” under Extend the Lesson in the middle of the page. You’ll find a colorful print-friendly pdf with step-by-step instructions for the activity.

It’s up to you! The Teacher’s Guide is flexible. Use all the activities, or pick and choose based on what skills you want to teach. However you use it, the Teacher’s Guide helps to seamlessly integrate SN2 into your classroom and engage all learners.
